Anjali works with a group of people who have suffered both ‘stigma’ and are ‘voiceless’. They are men and women who suffer from chronic mental illnesses, living in state institutions of care and treatment. Anjali’s mission is to move from institutionalization to full rehabilitation of people with mental illness, ensuring participation and consent of the mentally-ill in all decisions related to her life.

The Operational Research Society of India (ORSI)

What they wanted?

ORSI approached us with the need to move their existing site to a new hosting server and a complete design overhaul, while keeping their database of members and other information intact. They were looking for something visually appealing, but simple in terms of design and an interface that was easy to navigate. ORSI also required a back-end content management system that would enable their staff to append, clean up and update content.

What we did?

We came up with design options and developed one of them with further inputs from ORSI. The focus was on making the interface intuitive. The website had lots of information and it was a challenge to organize them visually, yet keep the interface clean. We used a lot of custom jQuery in addition to clean and consistent design and coding methods to attain this level of information organization and visual simplicity. We used PHP/MySQL to access the database. We developed a custom content management system from scratch, built easy to use forms, with visual symbols and error validation. We offered help and training of ORSI staff for easy maintenance of information using the system.
